Very nice flash-microsite for promoting Monster Lab the Game

Last year, I came across this microsite that promotes a game called Monster Lab. The artwork and flash-skills of the creator(s) are very good, this one is a good example of how to create a campaign site that oversteps the boundaries of the 'normal' setup for a site like this.

The homepage offers you a possibility to step right into a couple of minigames:

Behind the shiney doors there are different rooms, all with a different theme and their own minigame(s). In some rooms you can only do an experiment, which is also some kind of a minigame.

In one room you even have a wallpaper creator. Nice application!

 

This site is absolutely filled with a lot of nice content and must work very well to promote this game... Go check it out!

Moving Forest by NL Architects

Currently in Amsterdam at Experimenta Design, you can find the Moving Forest. This is a forest on wheels, situated by the public visiting the park, by moving around trees in shopping carts.

NL architects is the company behind this idea, that was created because they wanted to stress that Holland's urban environments have a lack of green nature.

51 japanese characters - archetypes from Japan

This is something interesting I came across at this weblog by Josh Spear... Peter Machat started a project which I definitely wanted to share.

"51 Japanese Characters showcases typical archetypes and cultural phenomena of Japanese society. It comes in the form of a handsome set of postcards (...) Each card shows one of the 51 characters on the front and an accompanying explanation"

Mostly, the Japanese society seems very closed and mysterious. This is the thing Peter wanted to give some more clearity about, by starting this project. Cool design, very interesting subject... compliments to Peter Machat!

Causecast: the do-good website by TechCrunch

Already a while ago, TechCrunch started the website CauseCast. As they tell us on their website, it stands for the following:

"Causecast, dubbed "a one stop philanthropy shop" by TechCrunch, is a platform where media, philanthropy, social networking, entertainment and education converge to serve a greater purpose. People want to do good, want to be inspired, and want to inspire others to join them in giving back. Causecast makes this easy by providing users with means to CONNECT with people, leaders, charities, nonprofit organizations, and brands that inspire them."

There's a lot of different causes, organisations and people to do good for. And if you are interested, you can join the elaborate community and connect to the people who are interested in the same stuff you are... Together, people can arrange to do a lot more than on their own.

Design your own Champion hoodie - campaign Hoodieremix

Came across this campaign at Ypulse group at Linked In, this is a nice one! Hoodieremix.com is a very easy to use tool in which you can customize and create your own hoodie. 14 different areas can be customized by filling in the color or pattern.

As you know, I write for the Dutch (online) marketing blog Dutchcowgirls.nl. On that site I try to write reviews on kids' websites regulary.

The latest ones I'd like to feature here, for my Dutch readers.

Okki.nl has been updated completely. With it's new visual style and approach, it targets at 6-8 year olds.

Okki is a magazine by the educational publisher Malmberg.

The site supports the magazine in two ways. First by focussing on recruitment of new subscriberes and secondly to strenghen the bond with existing subscribers.

I also wrote about a U.S. focussed platform called WoogiWorld. This 'virtual world' is targetted at kids of about 6-12 years old and is all about education. Not only educational aspects as they learn them in school, but also learning about using the internet in the right manner, has been taken into the basics of the platform. Very interesting to see, I definitely got a lot of inspiration from their approach!

Earlier I also reviewed the site LekkerBelangrijk.nl, a website founded by the Dutch "Voedingscentrum" (center for nourishment). In a very interactive way, kids get to know a lot about what they should and should not eat/drink and how much physical exersize is needed to lead a healthy life. Games and video are quite a big part of the content on this site, very interesting to take a look at!
